The DOC red wine produced in the Valpolicella hill area to the north of Verona has four variations: Classico, Valpantena, Superiore, Ripasso. It has a ruby red color, pleasant winy scent that reminds the slightly bitter almonds and a dry and slightly bitter taste. The grapes intended for winemaking should have a minimum natural alcoholic strength of 10°. This wine is suitable with white meat and cheese and for every occasion. The Valpolicella Superiore, noble wine, goes best with game meat and roast. Two well-known wines of Valpolicella are Recioto and Amarone.
